Background Story

A long time ago,I was just an eager undergrad looking to land his first job. I had not a clue what I was doing. I sucked at interviewing. There were tons of other smart kids at my school, and I had no idea how to separate myself. I did love to program though, and had done a ton of independent work for small businesses - kind of lame stuff, like FileMaker Pro databases and static HTML sites, but at the time it was cool.

Anyway, I decided to put together a portfolio and send it to employers instead of the standard resume. It worked. Employers got a quick picture of the things I was doing, and it seemed to validate me as someone that did quality work and went a little extra ways to do something different, cool.

A few years later, while in industry, I revisited the idea for my personal web site. Again, it seemed to work. Recruiters and employers would come across my portfolio, and it was a good conversation piece in interviews. This year, I finally got a few hours to turn this idea into a web site. I hope it works for you!
